Bye Bye Queen

By Marcus G Taylor

Queen I remember the first time our eyes made contact
Your picture perfect smile drew my soul to your flame
Engaged by your graceful form but was more intrigued in your format

For you had the type of character that made me want to give you my name
I look at you like no other man has and I wanted all in my company to behold

But whenever I would reach you fold your arms and when I call you refuse to answer
Wanting to give you all and never give you up for the thrill of chasing after gold
Instead I would come to you with arms wide open and you acted as a lancer

Though I try to be strong from the rejection my heart feels your sting
My pride is hurt too because I cannot help but feel I am not enough
For if my words and my actions do not move you neither will my signet ring

And even though my outer shell is rugged and rough my heart is not made that tough
So I had to go away by myself because I wanted my pen to cry

Yet after some time had passed God asked me why I mourn
He told me to stand up like a king and tell the queen it is time to say goodbye
There is something greater beyond this paint but God showed me I had to be shorn

Circumcision is painful because it is part of my identity
But whatever I have to cut off will never define my pedigree
