Generally, when someone hurts you,
it probably wasn't their first mind
In all likelihood, ignorance of how
fragile humans can be is a misdemeanor crime

From the start, we never intended to bring
each other down from grace
It's just that sometimes what seems right
makes us choose the wrong with haste

The heart is deceitful yet this is what
we say follow in all we think and do
Ironic how we count on the weakest muscle
to carry what we think is true

And we let good intentions override
righteousness for what seems right
The struggle between what is right and wrong
is clouded by the color in between black and white

"Mommy I just wanted a cookie before dinner”
"daddy I didn't know that was your last water"
"I just wanted him to stop resisting”
"I was only following orders”

We look at others wrong actions and
justify our right intentions
When weighed on a balance
both will in the face of convictions

For even though we all mean well in our heart
it’s the heart that betrays the thing we should
because many hurts have been caused
by well meaning hearts who intended to do good
