The World Needs Prisoners

By Matt Bruce

Keep judgement between your ears,
Above the hate wasting painful tears,

Brother, if only it could sustain,
I'd offer you my life in this refrain,

As gravel carves holes into our feet,
Never reaching to strangers we meet,

Laboring down this empty ravine,
Snarling at the thought of sights unseen,

We define God by the passion of our hate,
We lose ourselves in the refusal to relate,

We humor to define beauty from gain,
Erroneously reporting what is at stake,

To abide with you through the dark,
Ever occupied with the wisdom to impart,

Find the God in you with each passing breath,
The end is near if we don't start…

I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia
My education started after I left school.
I have never showcased my work beyond sharing with a couple friends when the mood strikes.
