They each want a different future for their son. I think I might save it for an afternoon when I’m on my own and can just read it all in one go. This was both interesting a frustrating to follow as a reader. What a review, Linda – already on my reading list, and now looking forward to it more than ever…! Absolutely! Plus, Max’s downward trajectory doesn’t seem entirely credible; neither do some of his personal choices. Your review has definitely increased my anticipation of the read. It is evident from the emotion and thoughtfulness of this book that this was a story which was close to her heart. It is a story about parents who lived a seemingly perfect life until their son’s illness shatters that experience and takes from them the initial feeling of perfection. I can’t say more without spoiling the read but this is plotting at its most sophisticated and effective. It’s perfect for this story.
