Lloyd Webber, the creative force behind such megahits as Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, has apparently been looking to bring the story of Cinderella to the stage for many years, but he has never been able to find a writer who could do justice to the script. School of Rock The Musical will complete its hugely successful run at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Sunday March 1, having played more than 1400 performances, before heading out on a major UK Tour in 2021.
The musical Cinderella is a new production by Andrew Lloyd Webber. A new production of Cinderella will receive its West End premiere later this year. With music by Lloyd Webber, a book and original story by Emerald Fennell, lyrics by David Zippel and direction from Laurence Connor, the show will run at the West End venue after School of Rock completes its run on 1 March 2020.
The show is also currently playing in Sydney, following dates in Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Korea and a multi-city tour of China. All that changed however when Lloyd Webber read Fennell’s take on the story. Based on the hit 1993 hit film “Sleepless in Seattle,” the production is London’s first fully staged indoor musical in months. It is a modern adaptation of the classic story of the same name. Fennell has made quite a name for herself in the last few years, gaining credit for both her writing and her acting ability.
