In 1863 school moved into the 1822 building by architect Joseph Bové situated next to the Maly Theatre (Neglinnaya Street 6/2, now Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School; Bolshoi Ballet School has stayed at the same building till 1968). After the revolution both of the schools were divided according to the type of training. Every year the Theatre organize a special festival that is called “Aleksandrinsky” this year it take place in September - October, so people have an opportunity to see a lot of modern plays of Russian and foreign masters.
