I told myself that should I ever return and take holiday on Skopelos again, I would make it my personal project to keep this one part of Greece garbage free every morning as I watched the sun rise, as I felt really moved by this sacred site. A small beach is formed right beneath the rock and it gets pretty crowded in summer. So, the day started off with rain, some thunder and lightning still hanging around. I'm not an overly religious person, but I felt a great tranquility being on this site, and for hours I was all by myself on the top of this rock with only God and my thoughts, and laying down on the bench and looking up at the sky, I did get a bit religious for a moment or two. We visited the place at noon so it was extremely hot, and there wasn’t any shadow around besides an olive tree in the court of the church. There is a small parking area and a pleasant café at the bottom of the hill. We went in may and we're the only ones there! Someday I hope to see that church and other locations around the world and in my own country.
