Murphy’s third season at the helm started off with his third straight major freshman acquisition as he recruited Dennis Williams to play Tiger men’s basketball. The University of West Alabama athletic training students put classroom concepts into practice by assisting staff athletic trainers with the day to day care of athletes in a variety of intercollegiate, interscholastic, industrial, physical therapy and physician practice athletic training settings. The entire men's team and two of the women all posted top 25 finishes at the file-mile event. The Tigers endured a rough 2011 season finishing at 19-22.
